TPP Forges International Ties With U.S. Scholars
On March 14, 2024, the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), led by Chairman Ko Wen-je, alongside Amb. Tom Chou, Commissioner for External Affairs of the Chairman's Office, and Leonard Chao, Chair of the TPP cross-Strait Committee, had the honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation of scholars from the United States. The delegation included Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS; Bonnie Glaser, Managing Director of the Indo-Pacific Program at GMF; Zack Cooper, Senior Fellow at AEI; and Rick Waters, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for China and Taiwan.
The focus of our discussions was the indispensable role of communication in fostering international cooperation. We built on the foundations laid during our previous meetings with members of the delegation in the latter half of 2023, exploring the intricacies of managing diverse political priorities in the context of cross-Strait relations. The meeting highlighted our shared commitment to promoting the public interest through informed and cooperative efforts.
We conducted in-depth exchanges of views on Taiwan People’s Party’s priority policies, cross-Strait relations, and peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. This gathering was not just a continuation of our ongoing dialogue but also a significant step towards enhancing our partnership through open and sincere communication, reflecting a mutual desire for peace and stability in today's complex geopolitical landscape.
