Taiwan People’s Party Strongly Condemns PLA Military Activities Around Taiwan
The Taiwan People’s Party strongly condemns the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) attempt to impose a full-scale blockade around Taiwan, encircle the First Island Chain, and escalate military tensions. The party reiterates that the Taiwan Strait is not China’s inland waters, and such actions by the CCP have severely disrupted regional stability and posed a serious threat to international order.
The Taiwan People’s Party criticizes the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for their incessant harassment of Taiwan this year, progressively expanding the scope of their military provocations. Recently, China announced the establishment of seven airspace reservation zones east of Fujian and Zhejiang, with military vessels and aircraft from the Eastern, Northern, and Southern theaters of operations entering the Taiwan Strait and the western Pacific. This clearly signals the commencement of large-scale military operations, adding uncertainty and risk to the region.
The Taiwan People’s Party emphasizes that Taiwan plays a crucial role within the First Island Chain and will stand alongside democratic allies to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the surrounding region. The CCP’s use of military threats and psychological pressure not only erodes cross-strait trust but also harms the welfare of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwan People’s Party calls on the Taiwanese government to enhance national defense capabilities and continue efforts to safeguard national security. Additionally, the party urges the international community to jointly defend peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
